Fall in Northampton County kicks off with more than just new school supplies and changing leaves—it begins with a full month focused on wellness, connection, prevention, and recovery.

We’re proud to support Easton’s Week of Wellness, a district-wide initiative leading up to the Live Well, Be Well event on Saturday, September 20th. Throughout the week, students and families will engage in meaningful conversations and activities designed to promote mental health, healthy choices, and lifelong resilience.

Here’s what to expect—and how you can get involved.

Wellness Tips for the New Season

Whether you’re attending the events or looking for ways to build healthier habits at home, here are five simple ways to support your child’s wellness this fall:

  1. Create a Calm Morning Routine
A predictable routine helps reduce stress. Set out clothes and pack lunches the night before to start the day with less chaos.
  2. Keep Conversations Open & Judgment-Free
Make time to check in, even briefly. Ask questions like “What made you smile today?” or “What’s stressing you out lately?” Kids open up when they know they’re being heard, not judged.
  3. Prioritize Sleep & Screen Limits
Try a “no phones after 9 PM” rule for everyone in the house. Sleep is critical for focus, emotional regulation, and growth.
  4. Talk Early (and Often) About Fentanyl & Substance Use
Even young teens are being exposed to dangerous substances through social media and peers. Use moments during the week to talk about the risks—especially around fake pills and fentanyl. They’re listening.
  5. Model What You Want Them to Practice
Whether it’s walking, journaling, deep breathing, or putting down your own phone—kids mirror adult behaviors. Show them that taking care of your mental health is normal and necessary.

This September, Northampton County is coming together to promote wellness that lasts beyond one week. Join us, show up, and help create a culture where asking for help is encouraged, conversations are real, and prevention is possible.
